Happy March!

As you may have noticed, I changed the look and feel of my blog.  Chic, no?

I decided that if I’m going to be updating this frequently, I’ll have to be creative about what I post.  So today, I decide to review some movies I’ve seen recently.

At first, I noticed a few moments of jumpiness in the animation — but this is a consequence of the movie’s making and is generally unnoticeable for most of the film.  When you think about how it was made, it becomes a matter of artistry, perfectionism, and patience.  The movie felt surprisingly long for an animated film, but kept my interest with the variety of smaller plot lines and additional characters.  Since I’m not an official critic, I won’t attempt to give the movie some amount of stars (out of 5, of course).  But I’d say knowing how the movie is made is what makes this movie enchanting.  Otherwise, it falls more in the children’s category.

By the way, I thoroughly enjoyed the Coraline website:  http://www.coraline.com/

Gran Torino:

This movie actually surprised me.  Based on the number of “bad” words, racial slurs, violence, etc, I would have guessed I might have not liked it.  But there was something else about it — the emotions, the humor, that caught my eye.  Since I wasn’t previously incredibly aware of Clint Eastwood films, I can see why they are still talked about.  I enjoyed this one.

Excalibur (1981):

Again, at first I perceived that this may not be “my type of movie.”  However, despite the violence, I found it entertaining due to all the references to Arthurian legends and the subplots, romance, and scandal.  To me, the age of a movie really shows in the sets and video quality.  Can’t blame them for when they made the movie, though.  And there are some advantages to traditional film.  Overall, I liked this movie as well.

Soon I will probably be writing short reviews of the iPod Touch apps I use!

Also, I’m still madly disappointed at EA Games’ delay of their release of The Sims 3.  :-(

Ciao.
